Mechanical Engineer for Medical Device Instruments

Then you may be our new Mechanical Engineer for Medical Device Instruments.
As an engineer on the CrossLab, Diagnostics, and Genomics Procurement team, your primary responsibilities will include providing technical support for a wide range of instruments and consumables that customers use to perform analysis in the field of Cancer Diagnostics. In addition, you will work with R&D and Marketing to bring new products to the market. You will be required to develop a good understanding of the fabrication processes and test protocols used in the production of high volume diagnostic instrumentation and consumables.
Areas of responsibilities and tasks include:
– Using innovative methods to improve the Quality, Reliability and Performance of the procured products as well as continually reducing the manufacturing costs.
– Working with partners in R&D, Quality and Marketing to bring new products to market.
– Be pro-active in the product life cycle management of the instrument device portfolio of components.
– Drive supplier quality compliance and ensure that all relevant technical documentation is obtained and uploaded in the quality database system
– Working in a “Quality First” business environment, you will be required to use sound judgment and analytical problem solving tools to quickly and effectively solve technical problems as they arise at customer’s sites or in the supply chain.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
– BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. MS is preferred.
– Demonstrated Product design experience.
– Experience with plastic injection molding and other part fabrication techniques.
– Demonstrated experience in ensuring that all solutions are in compliance with relevant quality regulations such as FDA and ISO.
– Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office) and Computer-Aided Engineering
– Experience with Oracle/SAP preferred.
– Excellent planning and organizational skills
– Strong communication skills; written, verbal and listening.
– Knowledge of Six Sigma and other quality management tools
– Experience with Project Management and leadership
– Demonstrated initiative and creativity is a must.
– Strong work ethic and teamwork skills
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be working with key stakeholders within Procurement, R&D, Sales and Marketing, Service and Quality assurance.as well as working with leading suppliers in the industry.
As suppliers and stakeholders are located globally, the travel activity in this position is expected to be 15-20 days per year.
